Alamo Health Management is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Billing Specialist to coordinate and oversee billing and collection functions for a multi-facility adult residential behavioral health organization.
This role acts as a liaison between internal departments, Counties, Medi-Cal, SSI Administration, clients, pharmacies, and other funding sources to ensure billing processes are accurate, timely, and compliant. The position supports revenue cycle management, financial accuracy, reimbursement activities, and operational excellence.
Work location: In-person, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in San Ramon, CA.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare billing, accounts receivable, or a related accounting role required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with Medi-Cal billing required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) billing required.
Experience with County-funded programs, SSI billing, and healthcare reimbursement systems preferred.
Experience using NetSuite or similar accounting software preferred.
Knowledge of Medi-Cal regulations, ALW billing requirements, claims management, payment posting, collections, and accounts receivable management preferred.
Experience in a healthcare, residential care, assisted living, or behavioral health environment preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Must have a current TB skin test or chest x-ray.
Must pass a criminal background check.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and resident information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and healthcare billing compliance standards.
