Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis procedures, including cleanings, scaling, and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable
- Take medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental terminology standards
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems like Dentrix for scheduling, charting, and documentation management
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, and HIPAA compliance to ensure accurate recordkeeping
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health practices
- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures including patient assessment, infection control protocols, and medical imaging techniques
Requirements & Qualifications
- Registered Dental Hygienist licensure or equivalent qualification
- Experience with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices
- Ability to perform patient assessments and document care accurately
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and aseptic techniques
