This role supports the revenue cycle team by helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of medical records while contributing to the hospital's financial operations.
Responsible for performing varied and complex diagnostic and procedural coding for patient records and optimizing DRG assignment. The position also supports accurate and timely coding and APC assignment as part of the Central Billing Office's key financial workflows.
All roles require on-site presence, and employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
Preferred criteria
- College degree
- CCS or ART certification
- EPIC experience
Required criteria
- High School Diploma
- College-level coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- 2-3 years of medical record experience, preferably in an acute care, computerized environment
- 1-2 years of demonstrated coding experience
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and applicable DRG grouper coding schemes
- Proficiency with clinical information systems for accessing health information in an electronic environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to distinguish colors to identify medical record numbers
