Join UChicago Medicine as a Billing Analyst I in the Lab Administration department.
This role monitors billing operations for assigned service lines, verifies the accuracy of supply and facility-based charges, and reconciles charge documentation with clinical and operational teams. The position supports revenue capture and reimbursement efforts while helping identify workflow improvements to reduce charge capture issues.
This is primarily a work-from-home opportunity with occasional onsite work required in the greater Chicagoland area.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma
- 1–3 years of experience with hospital billing operations
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding systems
- Certification required within 12 months of hire: CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or a combination thereof
- Completion of a medical terminology course
- Familiarity with large healthcare information systems
- Experience with PC-based spreadsheets and word processing
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage interpersonal relationships and multiple priorities effectively
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Operating room billing operations experience
- Experience with IDX, OACIS, EPIC, and/or Last Word
