Job Summary
As a Revenue Cycle Auditor-Educator Coding professional, you will leverage expert knowledge of ICD diagnostic and procedural coding and CPT-4 classification systems in an advanced-level role. This position is responsible for supporting coding accuracy, compliance, revenue cycle integrity, and patient care documentation.
You will serve as a key resource for complex coding and billing questions, help onboard and train new staff, perform coding and DRG validation audits, and lead the development and deployment of coding and CDI education programs. In partnership with coding and CDI leadership, you will plan and execute system-wide training, conduct internal audits with follow-up education, and help standardize best practices.
You will also monitor and communicate regulatory coding and billing changes to support timely and accurate implementation across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer complex coding and billing questions as a subject matter resource
- Support onboarding and training of new staff
- Perform coding and DRG validation audits
- Develop and deploy coding and CDI education programs
- Plan and execute system-wide training with leadership
- Conduct internal audits and provide follow-up education
- Standardize best practices across departments
- Monitor and communicate regulatory coding and billing changes
- Liaise with CDI, physicians, clinical quality, and patient financial services
- Support process improvement and workflow optimization
- Provide remote computer troubleshooting as needed
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in HIM or a related field, or Associate’s degree in Nursing
- 4 to 6 years of experience performing coding CDI audits and education in large multifacility healthcare systems
- Active and maintained certification from one or more of the following:
- AHIMA: CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CDIP
- AAPC: CIC
- ACDIS: CCDS
- Deep understanding of healthcare coding guidelines, including ICD-10 and CPT-4
- Knowledge of DRG validation and revenue cycle best practices
- Proven experience in coding education, auditing, and compliance
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with CDI, physicians, clinical quality, and patient financial services
