This is a 100% remote position focused on reviewing surgical coding and denials.
The role directly coordinates, oversees, and controls the flow of medical record coded information required by hospital and ambulatory sites for billing and reimbursement. The Coding Coordinator of Quality & Education is responsible for the completeness, accuracy, quality, and timely submission of medical data and supporting documentation for inpatient discharges and outpatient encounters.
The position serves as a departmental liaison in the coding reimbursement process and assesses, designs, and evaluates educational programs and processes that improve documentation practices. It also acts as an educational resource for providers and coding staff on coding and documentation.
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree in a healthcare-related field, Medical Records Sciences, or Business/Healthcare Administration, or five years of coding experience in lieu of education.
Additional specialty coding certification or two years of specialty coding experience required.
Must have thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
Five years of specialty coding experience preferred.
Certification in at least one of the following: RHIT, RHIT certification eligibility, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCP, CCA, or COC.
