We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Authorizations Specialist to support clinical and administrative teams by coordinating insurance authorizations for medical procedures, diagnostic tests, specialist referrals, and medications.
This role is responsible for submitting and tracking authorizations, communicating with insurance companies, patients, and providers, and ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate. The position helps prevent delays in patient care by monitoring authorization status, following up with payers, and ensuring services are authorized according to insurance requirements and applicable healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- Prior experience with medical authorizations, insurance verification, or medical office operations preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and medical confidentiality requirements
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks required
