Physician Assistant (PA-C) – Interventional Pain Management

Apex Interventional Pain Specialists is an advanced, physician-led practice focused on minimally invasive, image-guided procedural and surgical solutions for chronic pain.

This role is a part-time Physician Assistant position supporting interventional pain management in a growing startup clinic. The PA-C will work directly with board-certified interventional pain physicians and contribute to both office-based care and operative assisting.

Position overview

  • Flexible schedule averaging 30 hours per week
  • Two in-office clinic days plus additional surgical support in the operating room as needed
  • Involvement in patient care, procedural support, and practice development
  • Structured onboarding, mentorship, shadowing, and gradual transition to independent clinic sessions

Key responsibilities

Clinical and procedural support

  • Conduct patient consultations and follow-up visits under physician supervision
  • Perform focused histories, physical exams, and treatment planning for interventional pain patients
  • Assist with operative and interventional procedures at outpatient and partner facilities
  • Prepare and update electronic medical records accurately and efficiently
  • Educate patients on procedural expectations, post-operative care, and recovery planning
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient experiences

Practice development and growth

  • Participate in clinical projects, educational initiatives, and quality improvement efforts
  • Support the implementation of new service lines and procedural offerings
  • Contribute to evidence-based clinical workflows and patient education materials
  • Engage with referring providers and the community to promote awareness of advanced pain treatments

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Active Maine PA license or eligibility for licensure
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small, high-performance team
  • Passion for procedural medicine and hands-on learning
  • Prior experience in pain management, orthopedics, or neurosurgery is preferred
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks EMR is preferred
