Performs clinical laboratory testing in assigned sections such as general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology to ensure accurate and timely results.
Responsible for specimen collection, handling, processing, result reporting, quality control, performance improvement activities, equipment maintenance, and use of laboratory information systems.
Also performs clerical duties, supports blood product dispensing, follows safety and compliance standards, and assists with training new associates and students.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA requirements.
Experience
- No experience required for graduates of an approved clinical laboratory training program.
- Or six months of approved clinical laboratory experience with rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
Licenses and Certifications
- Louisiana state licensure required for Louisiana.
- New graduates must be board certified or eligible and complete board certification within 1 year of hire, except in Louisiana.
