Behavioral health care coordinator role supporting psychiatric nurse practitioners with medication prior authorizations, prescription-related workflows, and patient access to care.
The position acts as a liaison between providers, patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies to resolve authorization and medication access issues efficiently. It also supports insurance verification, scheduling, patient onboarding, billing, documentation, and general administrative tasks.
This is a part-time role, initially 12–15 hours per week, and works in a hybrid remote setting in Raleigh, NC.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or medical office setting
- Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes
- Strong communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, primary care, or specialty medicine
- Experience with prior authorizations, insurance billing, and claims
- Familiarity with psychotropic medications and electronic prior authorization platforms such as CoverMyMeds
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA) or equivalent experience
