Patient Financial Services Representative

The Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for supporting patients with billing, insurance, and payment-related questions in a healthcare setting. This role helps ensure accurate patient account management, clear communication about charges and coverage, and timely resolution of account discrepancies and denials.

The representative serves as a liaison between patients and internal billing, coding, and insurance teams while maintaining accurate financial records and delivering compassionate customer service.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
  • Previous experience in patient financial services, medical billing, or a related healthcare administrative role
  • Strong understanding of medical insurance terminology, billing processes, and healthcare regulations
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in medical billing or coding, such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Experience working with multiple insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards
  • Bilingual abilities preferred
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism
