Official Description

Strapping; ankle and/or foot

Common Language Description

The procedure described by CPT® Code 29540 involves the application of strapping to the ankle and/or foot. This technique is commonly utilized by physicians to provide support and stabilization to the muscles and ligaments in the affected area. The strapping is achieved through the use of tightly wrapped tape, which helps to limit movement and reduce the risk of further injury. This procedure is particularly beneficial in cases where there is a need to immobilize the ankle or foot due to strains, sprains, or other musculoskeletal conditions. It is important to note that if the strapping is specifically applied to the toes, a different code, CPT® Code 29550, should be used to accurately reflect the procedure performed.
