During the procedure, a pressure-sensing balloon is introduced into the esophagus, which the patient swallows while it remains deflated. This balloon is connected to a pressure device that is subsequently inflated. By analyzing these pressure changes alongside lung volume calculations, healthcare providers can gain valuable insights into the patient's respiratory status.
