This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The associate must safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information comply with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities include completing release of information requests by retrieving and returning patient medical charts, scanning medical records accurately, validating requests and authorizations for release of medical information, performing quality checks to assure accuracy and confidentiality, maintaining equipment, and providing excellent customer service. The role also involves maintaining knowledge of state laws and fee structures and complying with policies and HIPAA and other regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (GED) required
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred
  • Strong computer software experience, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Typing speed of 50 wpm
  • Ability to use fax, copier, scanning machine
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Proven customer satisfaction skills
  • Ability to multi-task
