This position is with Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk, VA.
The Medical Records Specialist ensures charts are available and up to date for patient appointments while maintaining internal customer focus.
Responsibilities include daily scanning and indexing of charts, faxes, and correspondence; providing backup support for the patient portal helpdesk; sorting and delivering faxes; timely performing scheduled runs and visiting departments; answering and triaging incoming calls professionally; maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; and other assigned duties.
Qualifications:

- Excellent computer skills
- Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems preferred
- Experience in medical field recommended but not required
- Minimum one year related experience
- Medical office or front desk experience preferred
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- One year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination
Systems:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), standing (50%)
- Regular bending, stooping, reaching (25-50%)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills, constant grasping, typing, technology use
- Visual and auditory acuity required at all times
Hours:
- Full-time, Monday-Friday 7am-5:30pm, shift within these hours, may require early or late work
