Medical Records Specialist

The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for requesting and gathering medical and billing records, and managing clients’ health records. This role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong attention to detail, and the ability to accurately scan and index medical records to the appropriate client’s file.

Key responsibilities include submitting HIPAA requests to providers via fax, email, mail, or designated portals; safeguarding patient records and ensuring HIPAA compliance; retrieving medical and billing records from designated portals; filing information and documents into client files; reviewing medical records and bills to identify discrepancies; handling invoices; communicating with clients and providers; following up with providers; preparing demand packets; requesting additional medical records as needed; and performing other related duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Creole is required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and co-workers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
