Medical Records Coordinator

Join our team as a Medical Records Coordinator at a skilled nursing facility. Maintain medical records in compliance with State and Federal regulations, professional standards, and facility policies to ensure complete, timely, and accurate records. Weekend work required every other weekend.

Responsibilities include routine audits of in-house charts upon admission and quarterly to ensure accuracy, focus audits as directed, notifying staff of deficiencies and follow-up, assembling medical records of discharged residents, analyzing discharged charts for completeness and following up with staff and physicians, processing requests for medical information, maintaining Release of Information Log and Accounting of Disclosures according to HIPAA, ensuring confidentiality of records, monitoring physician visits, maintaining destruction logs and off-site records, assigning ICD-9 CM codes for resident diagnoses, coordinating physician dictation with transcription company, filing loose sheets, maintaining department form supplies, completing discharge/transfer notices and recording data, forwarding records to Case Manager for managed care updates, overseeing Record Retention and Destruction Policy compliance, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must maintain or be willing to obtain Medical Records Certification. Detail-oriented with ability to complete tasks on demand. Experience with PointClickCare preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel highly encouraged.
