This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The associate must at all times safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities include completing release of information requests, retrieving and returning patient medical charts, scanning medical records accurately, validating requests and authorizations, performing quality checks for accuracy and confidentiality, maintaining equipment, providing excellent customer service, handling incoming requests, maintaining a professional appearance, and ensuring compliance with state laws, HIPAA, and other regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (GED) required
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to type 50 wpm
- Experience using fax, copier, and scanning machines
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes
- Self-motivated team player
- Proven customer satisfaction skills
- Ability to multi-task
