ROI Medical Records Specialist

This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests timely and efficiently, ensuring accuracy, safeguarding patient privacy, and complying with HIPAA regulations.

  • Complete release of information requests, including retrieval, scanning, and transmission of medical records.
  • Date stamp requests and highlight key data.
  • Validate requests and authorizations as per procedures.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
  • Maintain equipment in excellent condition.
  • Provide attentive and respectful customer service; proactively identify client concerns.
  • Manage incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax as needed.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Keep a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain knowledge of state laws and fee structures.
  • Accept assignments and assist during backlogs.
  • Adhere to client policies, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and ethical standards.
  • Handle privileged information accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (GED) required.
  • Preferred minimum 2 years experience in medical records or similar setting.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Typing speed of 50 wpm required.
  • Proficient with fax, copier, and scanning equipment.
  • Quick to learn new equipment and processes.
  • Self-motivated, team player with strong customer satisfaction skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
Requirements & Qualifications
