Medical Records Retrieval Specialist

This role plays a key part in supporting medical record retrieval efforts for quality, compliance, and risk adjustment programs. The position is primarily remote, focused on accessing electronic medical records (EMR) using secure systems, with occasional onsite retrieval assignments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Retrieve medical records from EMR/EHR systems using secure, HIPAA-compliant tools
• Perform quality checks to ensure records are complete, legible, and properly captured
• Scan, index, validate, and upload medical documentation into company systems
• Maintain confidentiality and follow compliance, privacy, and data handling protocols
• Communicate professionally with provider offices when coordination is needed

Onsite Responsibilities (as needed):

• Conduct onsite medical record retrieval at provider facilities when remote access isn't available
• Travel locally and occasionally undertake air travel for assignments
• Manage company-issued equipment safely

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with EMR/EHR portals
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Effective communication and professionalism with healthcare providers
• Ability to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines
• Valid driver's license, clean motor vehicle record, and personal vehicle with insurance
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and travel as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in medical records, EMR/EHR systems, or healthcare administration
• Knowledge of HIPAA and protected health information (PHI) handling
• Prior remote or field-based medical record retrieval experience

Work Environment:

• Primarily remote with periodic field assignments
• Local travel typically 30-40 miles, occasional regional flights
• Must handle extended sitting and onsite standing/walking

Compensation:

• Remote EMR download work: $13 - $14 per hour
• Onsite retrieval: $20 per hour or $3 per completed record, whichever is higher
