The Medical Records Retrieval Associate is responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, and securely uploading medical records into designated systems to support Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI). This role focuses on accurate file management, timely uploads, and compliance with HIPAA and internal security protocols.
The position offers flexibility in geographic location and supports remote work across US time zones.
Key responsibilities include retrieval of electronic medical records from partner practices or internal teams, organizing and validating records for completeness prior to upload, and uploading medical records into designated CDI audit platforms.
The role also involves labeling and indexing files for correct patient attribution, tracking upload volumes, maintaining documentation, monitoring upload queues to meet turnaround targets, identifying and escalating missing/incomplete documentation, maintaining strict HIPAA and data security adherence, and collaborating with CDI and other teams to resolve file access issues.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, at least 2 years of experience in medical record or chart retrieval processes, and proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Preferred skills include excellent communication, experience supporting medical records departments, familiarity with CDI workflows, experience with file indexing and document management systems, and basic knowledge of ICD-10-CM terminology.
Physical requirements involve prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
