Shift: Night Shift: Friday - Tuesday 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM EDT
This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The associate must always safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.
Duties include completing release of information requests such as retrieving and returning patient’s medical charts, scanning medical records accurately, transmitting daily according to requests and procedures, date stamping requests, highlighting pertinent data, validating requests and authorization per procedures, performing quality checks for accuracy and confidentiality, maintaining equipment, providing excellent customer service, receiving incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax, maintaining a neat work environment, knowledge of state laws and fee structures, accepting assignments, adhering to policies including HIPAA and labor regulations, maintaining confidentiality and security of information, and working conscientiously with privileged information.
- High School Diploma (GED) required
- Minimum 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills
- Typing speed of 50 words per minute
- Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning machines
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly
- Self-motivated and a team player
- Proven customer satisfaction skills
