In keeping with the organization's goal of improving the lives of the residents served, the Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for representing the company positively while maintaining organized medical records. The role involves close coordination with nursing staff.
- Assist nursing in organizing, implementing, and performing administrative procedures.
- Organize and complete medical records of discharged residents.
- Organize and evaluate medical records and health information for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure residents' medical charts are complete, all forms are properly identified, signed, and all necessary information is entered in the computer.
- Copy records and send out requests for records with proper medical release.
- Pull charts as needed for audits and billing.
- Contact discharged patients, families, and physicians to maintain registry with follow-up or missing information.
- Protect medical record security, maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain infection control and safety precautions when performing tasks.
- Support residents' comfort, privacy, dignity, and promote a caring environment.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with residents, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Report hazards, damaged equipment, and supply issues to supervisors.
- Respond promptly and courteously to call lights in resident care areas.
- Report resident concerns to appropriate department heads.
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services.
- Communicate respectfully with staff and proficiently use designated computer systems.
