The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with regulatory standards. This includes preparing charts for upcoming appointments, sorting, scanning, and filing medical documents into electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and fulfilling medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency in EMR systems, and customer service orientation.
Key duties:
- Prepare charts for upcoming appointments
- Sort, scan, and file all paper medical documents into the appropriate EMR categories
- Document and fulfill patient medical record copy requests
- Fulfill medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys
- Obtain progress notes, test results, hospital records, and other correspondence as requested by providers
- Answer incoming phone calls for the medical records department
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities and operates within a professional medical office environment. Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. It is a full-time, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift position with no weekend or travel requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
