Medical Records Clerk

GEO provides turnkey solutions for government partners in correctional and community reentry services, focusing on evidenced based rehabilitation and improved outcomes.

You will be the point person responsible for managing inmate and detainee medical records, including filing in an alphabetical and color-coded system, organizing medical information by dates of incarceration or service, obtaining physician signatures on diagnostic studies, providing records to health providers and administrative staff, scheduling appointments with outside consulting health professionals, preparing monthly statistics, and performing secretarial duties.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Training in an accredited medical records program or at least 1 year experience in an established medical records system preferred.

Working knowledge of business English, math, grammar, spelling, and ability to develop correspondence, reports, and operational directives.

Proven history of exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality.

Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions, make minor decisions per rules and regulations, maintain company records, and interact effectively with the public and detainees.

Computer proficiency with necessary departmental software.

Physical ability to frequently lift/carry up to 10 lbs and occasionally up to 60 lbs; ability to bend, stoop, climb, reach, drive automatic vehicles, and operate machinery occasionally.
