Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is a private non-profit behavioral health treatment provider in New Britain, CT, serving over 7,500 adults and children annually. The Medical Records Clerk position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, located at 233 Main St. New Britain, CT 06051. The hourly wage starts at $19.
This role is responsible for medical record organization, ensuring record accuracy and completeness, scanning and uploading clinical forms into the EMR system, training staff on medical records procedures, and performing record audits to ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation standards. The clerk collaborates with staff, insurance companies, attorneys, and others regarding record requests and issues, safeguards patient confidentiality, processes health information requests under HIPAA guidelines, and acts as a patient liaison to ensure timely access to health records.
Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, at least one year experience in records management or equivalent medical office experience, training in HIPAA and agency accreditation, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, and experience with EMR systems (EPIC preferred).
