Medical Records Clerk

The GEO Group, Inc.

You will be the go-to person for everything related to inmate and detainee medical records. Your responsibilities include:

  • Filing all medical records in alphabetical order adhering to color-coded system.
  • Filing and attaching medical information in each medical record according to dates of incarceration or date of service.
  • Obtaining physician’s signatures on all diagnostic studies.
  • Providing records as requested by health providers and administrative staff.
  • Scheduling appointments with outside consulting health professionals.
  • Preparing monthly statistics.
  • Performing secretarial duties.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Working knowledge of business English, math, good grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives.
  • Proven history of exercising discretion and retaining confidentiality.
  • Solid organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to make minor decisions according to rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain company records.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public and detainees.
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Preferred:

  • Training in an accredited medical records program or minimum of one year experience in an established medical records system.
