The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with regulatory standards. This includes preparing charts, sorting, scanning, and filing medical documents into electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and fulfilling various medical record requests.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing charts for upcoming appointments
- Sorting, scanning, and filing paper medical documents into appropriate EMR categories
- Documenting and fulfilling patient medical record copy requests
- Fulfilling medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys
- Obtaining progress notes, test results, hospital records, and other correspondence as requested by providers
- Answering incoming phone calls for the medical records department
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors
The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency with EMR systems, medical terminology knowledge, and a customer service orientation.
This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday, no weekends required, working in a professional medical office environment.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer
