Medical Records Coordinator

South Georgia North Florida Eye Partners offers a variety of eye care services from detection and medical treatment of eye diseases and injuries to advanced procedures including Lasik and cataract surgeries. We also have an on-site Optical Shop with the latest designer frames and sunglasses. Locations include Valdosta, Tifton, Douglas, Madison, and Moultrie.

The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day processing of paper and electronic medical records, organizing, filing, and retrieving patient medical records. Additional duties include scanning medical documents (diagnostic testing, patient exam notes, external correspondence, and record requests), assisting the surgery scheduler with administrative tasks, paperwork, phone calls, and covering front desk and other administrative duties as assigned.

Maintain patient confidentiality, adhere to professional standards, policies, and federal, state, local, and JCAHPO requirements. Prepare and process release of medical records per HIPAA regulations. Receive and forward incoming correspondence and coordinate telephone calls from patients and healthcare providers.

High school diploma or equivalent experience required. One year experience in a medical clerical or related customer service position preferred.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent experience. One year experience in medical clerical or related customer service role. Strong ability to interact well with patients, visitors, and co-workers routinely. Knowledge of medical record control, access, storage, and HIPAA compliance. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to federal, state, local regulations and JCAHPO standards.
