Medical Records Coordinator

Come join our team as a Medical Records Coordinator at our state of the art, skilled nursing facility. This position maintains the medical records in accordance with State and Federal regulations as well as professional standards of practice and facility policies and procedures to ensure complete, timely, and accurate medical records. Every other weekend is required.

Responsibilities include routine audits of in-house charts upon admission and quarterly to ensure completeness and accuracy, completing focused and PI audits as directed, notifying staff on deficiencies and ensuring record completion, assembling medical records of discharged residents, analyzing discharged charts for completeness with follow-up, processing medical information requests, maintaining Release of Information Logs and Accounting of Disclosures according to HIPAA, ensuring confidentiality of medical records, monitoring physician visits and reporting non-compliance, purging charts and maintaining destruction logs, assigning ICD-9 CM codes for resident diagnoses and inputting in HCS system, coordinating physician dictation with transcription services, filing loose sheets, maintaining form supplies, completing discharge/transfer notices and inputting data in HCS and ECS systems, forwarding records for managed care updates, overseeing Record Retention and Destruction Policy with departmental coordination, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Maintains or is willing to obtain Medical Records Certification
  • Detail-oriented with ability to complete tasks on a need-based schedule
  • Preferred experience with PointClickCare
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel highly encouraged
