Medical Records Representative

At OrthoArizona, we bring together orthopedic and sports medicine experts to serve the Valley with compassionate care for patients and their families.

In this role, you will:

  • Transmit, retrieve, route, mail, and fax patient records as required
  • Route, deliver, and import external records and correspondence
  • Review medical record requests for accuracy and provide the requested information
  • Coordinate with all departments for proper document routing
  • Follow medical record policies and procedures
  • Serve as liaison between patients and HIPAA officer as needed
  • Process and distribute mail daily to appropriate departments
  • Assist in training and orienting new staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Health Information Management Systems
  • Proficient with computer programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Completion and maintenance of compliance training
  • Ability to train on and expand knowledge of practice management software
  • Understanding of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year experience in a medical office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Completion of Medical Records or Health Information Management educational program

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with practice management software and ability to train others
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy (PHI)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Preferred: Experience with EMR systems and completion of relevant educational programs
