The Arizona Department of Health Services promotes and protects the health of Arizona’s children and adults. This role, titled Health Records Compliance Manager, supports the compliance program ensuring operational integrity of Health Records. Key responsibilities include supporting compliance activities, conducting chart audits, generating risk reports, collaborating with clinical staff, developing and monitoring KPIs, ensuring accuracy and security of medical records, supporting HIPAA compliance, assisting with electronic health record (EHR) processes, and preparing documentation for audits and accreditation.
Additional duties include driving documentation quality improvement initiatives, facilitating timely and compliant documentation across disciplines, ensuring data integrity and regulatory adherence in electronic health records, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
The position requires knowledge of medical terminology, laws and regulations related to medical records, documentation standards, HIPAA, and proficiency with personal computer software and EHR systems. Skills involve strong auditing, analytic capabilities, interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and time management. The role demands confidentiality, ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and adapt to changing regulations and systems.
Preference given to candidates with two years of medical records experience. The position requires a valid driver's license and fingerprint clearance card. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy; accepted methods and techniques for medical records maintenance; laws, rules, and regulations regarding medical records; documentation standards from The Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations; hospital documentation policies; HIPAA requirements; and proficiency in Word, Excel, and EHR systems.
Skills required include strong interpersonal communication, attention to detail in filing complex medical information, concentration, auditing and analytic skills, computer proficiency in medical records management software, and time management.
Abilities include maintaining confidentiality, accurate document filing and scanning, usage of office equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, identifying documentation trends and gaps, working independently, and adapting to changing systems and regulations.
