We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our hospice care team. In this vital administrative role, you will manage and maintain accurate patient records, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and provide essential office support to help our team deliver exceptional care. Your work enables our caregivers to focus on what matters most—making every moment count.
Responsibilities include maintaining and closing medical records according to policy, reviewing records for completeness and compliance, obtaining missing chart information, managing release of information to authorized parties, collaborating with clinical staff for patient admissions, providing administrative support, auditing medical records, participating in patient care coordination and quality improvement programs, purging closed records, maintaining a master patient index, and completing annual compliance training.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years of experience in office work or medical records department
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance
- Excellent organizational, record keeping, filing, and typing skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in documentation management
- Ability to operate computers, fax machines, copiers, and cell phones
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with composure
- Effective communication across diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
- Responsible, mature, cooperative, and tactful interpersonal skills
