Medical Records Specialist

Join North Austin Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, as a Medical Records Specialist contributing to maintaining complete and accurate medical records.

Responsibilities include collection, processing, filing, and maintenance of medical records; arranging chart forms and correspondence reports (operative, lab, electrocardiogram, x-ray, pathology, etc.); adhering to medico-legal requirements when answering correspondence and inquiries; obtaining missing chart contents; managing checkout and return systems while preserving confidentiality and security; arranging safe off-site storage for microfilming; serving as liaison between surgery center and transcription company.

Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred (ambulatory surgery center, hospital, doctor's office).

North Austin Surgery Center performs over 600 procedures monthly, treating urology, orthopedic, endoscopy, oculoplastics, ENT, GYN, and colorectal procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience in medical office setting such as ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or doctor's office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of medical records
  • Understanding of medico-legal requirements
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to serve as liaison with transcription services
