Referral Coordinator / Medical Records

Orthopedic Centers of Colorado

Provides a variety of administrative duties to physicians, patients, referring providers, and other members of the clinic.

Manages incoming referrals in all electronic interfaces, obtains proper documentation for scheduling and appropriately builds patient charts.

Schedules all patients and acts as point of contact/liaison for referral sources, addressing workflow issues to improve scheduling.

Provides support services to patients, medical staff, and referring offices.

Provides backup scheduling, phone coverage, check-in, opening, lunch, and closing assistance to the Front Desk team as scheduled and when needed.

Accurately maintains medical files and maintains patient confidentiality.

Performs other assigned work as required.

Working conditions include approximately 80% remote work and 20% in office, with in-house training up to 6 weeks.

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional early, late, or overtime hours required.

Requirements & Qualifications

Knowledge of orthopedic office procedures and terminology.

Proficient with phone system capabilities and Microsoft Office 365 products.

Previous experience working with an EMR system.

Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

Patient-centered outlook and willingness to problem solve.

Knowledge of computer systems and applications.

Ability to type from draft copy, review and edit reports and correspondence with attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Basic arithmetic skills to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to sort and file materials alphabetically or numerically.

Clear and concise communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of two years' experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Word processing and computer experience required.

Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology preferred.
