Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a Medical Records Clerk to join our growing team in Newburgh, NY.

File and maintain medical records in an organized and numerical manner, ensuring that patient medical records are properly stored, maintained, and available for patient care in a timely manner.
Duties:
- File records accurately in patients’ electronic medical charts using various record management software (eCW, Centricity, Index logic, DocuWare, etc.)
- Retrieve paper medical records requested by clinical departments and for record release requests
- Accurately log all paper medical records delivered, retrieved, or relocated
- Report missing medical records promptly
- Answer the medical records phone line within 4 rings
- Process all incoming records (lab work, X-rays, prescription refills, diagnostic reports, referrals) via fax, scan, or mail timely and according to policy
- Scan paper documents accurately into appropriate sections of patients’ electronic medical records
- Log all medical records received into patient charts
- Process incoming and outgoing medical record releases ensuring required consent and identification forms
- Process patient medical records release requests within 3-10 business days as per policy
- Archive paper medical records by converting them to electronic format
- Maintain knowledge of Medical Records, HIPAA, confidentiality, and relevant policies
- Attend monthly department and all staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality of Cornerstone Family Healthcare’s information including patient, financial, and employee relations
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and coworkers
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 1 year office experience with computer proficiency
- Highly organized with great attention to detail
- Ability to work in close quarters and stand for extended periods
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
