Process paper medical records by reviewing documentation to ensure it is approved for inclusion in the legal medical record. Perform scanning, quality checking, and validating functions. Maintain the electronic medical record by performing audits of medical records to ensure verification of correct patient information. Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Duties include performing duties of Clerk Specialist III as workflow dictates, reviewing information contained in documentation for approved format, ensuring institutional policies and procedures for administration and maintenance of medical records are adhered to, maintaining medical record confidentiality and legal requirements, creating and maintaining daily records of work performed, reviewing records for hospital quality standards, responding to special service requests timely and resolving customer issues, maintaining departmental policies and quality assurance programs, enhancing professional growth through educational programs, and conducting various routine and special audits to maintain program integrity.
Education: Vocational or technical education preferred, related post-high school education.
Experience: No minimum experience required.
Physical Conditions: Sedentary work involving mostly sitting with occasional walking or standing. No or minimal hazard, typical office environment.
