Patient Relations Coordinator

Ackerman Cancer Center

Ackerman Cancer Center, a leading physician-owned proton cancer treatment center, is looking for a skilled Patient Relations Coordinator. The role involves managing patient communications including answering multi-line phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting co-pays, assisting with medical records, coordinating physician schedules, and maintaining accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. This position is key to creating a professional and welcoming healthcare environment.

Responsibilities include professional telephone handling, patient check-in and paperwork assistance, insurance verification and referral obtaining, processing co-payments, coordinating physician appointments and follow-ups, managing physician schedules, medical records management, maintaining the waiting area, making reminder calls for labs and visits, generating clinical summaries and compliance reports, and handling patient photos for charts.

The position typically works Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills
  • Professional and friendly interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and standard office equipment

Preferred:

  • Previous medical office experience
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus
  • Knowledge of insurance verification
