NaphCare is hiring a Medical Records Clerk to join the team of medical professionals at the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, AL. As a Correctional Medical Records Clerk, you will work alongside correctional officers and other healthcare professionals providing care to incarcerated individuals.
Responsibilities include maintaining, organizing, and processing inmates' medical records, entering patient information into electronic systems, filing documents, ensuring accuracy and quality of documentation, handling medical information requests in compliance with HIPAA, managing mail and communication related to medical records, and performing routine clerical tasks.
Qualifications required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct and legal requirements
- Pass facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical capabilities include ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, and maintain endurance throughout shifts.
