The Medical Record Specialist position assists with maintaining medical record integrity through filing, assembling, analysis, and retrieving confidential patient records.
Responsibilities include preparing and assembling medical records, organizing and analyzing them for accuracy and completeness, identifying and entering practitioner deficiencies in Medhost, pulling charts for audits and other reviews, ensuring proper storage and access according to policies, processing medical record requests, scanning records to contract coders, assisting with HIM department audits, managing chart control, printing and delivering forms, and promoting quality improvement and patient safety.
High school diploma or equivalent is required, with three or more years of experience in a psychiatric setting or a combination of education and experience. RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.
