The position combines roles of Medical Records Technician and Central Supply Technician in a long-term care facility.
Responsibilities include maintaining organized medical records and files according to OBRA guidelines and state standards, scanning and filing patient information, preparing correspondence, entering physicians orders and weights into clinical software, auditing medical records for compliance, coordinating with legal counsel for release of information, attending quality assurance meetings and in-services, and ensuring all discharge records are complete.
In the Central Supply role, maintaining par levels of medical supplies and over-the-counter medications, organizing supplies 24/7 including weekends, inventory management, ordering supplies and meds based on schedule and physician orders, working with leadership for budget control, and ensuring patient/resident safety are key duties.
Qualifications:
- Registered Health Information Technician or high school graduate/equivalent
- Typing skills of 40 WPM or more
- Minimum one year experience in medical records in long-term care preferred
- Computer literate
- Ability to read, speak and write English
- For Central Supply: minimum one year experience preferred; Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Aide preferred
