Medical Billing and Coding Specialist - Mental Health

We are a growing outpatient mental health agency providing therapy and wrap around services across multiple locations. Our team is committed to high quality care, operational excellence, and strong support for our providers and clients.

We are seeking an experienced and certified, detail oriented Medical Billing & Coding Specialist with a background in mental health billing (not required). This role is responsible for managing the full billing cycle, ensuring compliance, and optimizing reimbursement.

Responsibilities include managing full cycle billing for mental health services (claims submission, follow up, and payment posting), working with Medicaid/OHP, commercial insurance, and authorizations, identifying and resolving claim denials and billing discrepancies, ensuring accurate CPT, ICD-10, and modifier usage, maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, communicating with providers regarding documentation and billing needs, and supporting credentialing and payer setup as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Billing/Coding (CPC, CCS, CBCS, or equivalent) required
  • 2–5+ years of billing experience (mental/behavioral health strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, authorizations, and denials
  • Experience with EHR systems (Valant or similar is a plus)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an office setting
