The Medical Coding Auditor role is fully remote in the US with occasional travel for onboarding and training. The position reports to the Contract Manager and supports management of medical coding contracts, including auditing contract coders monthly to ensure a 97% accuracy rate, maintaining documentation of credentials and training, supporting monthly and annual reporting, and serving as acting Contract Manager when needed.
Responsibilities include conducting monthly and annual audits of coding staff, supervising audits results and training, coding as needed, collaborating with coding personnel daily for coding guidance, and preparing enhanced data reports to support government contract requirements including coder accuracy and productivity statistics.
Qualifications:
- Current coding credential from AHIMA or AAPC
- Department of Defense (DoD) Medical Coding auditing experience
- At least 1 year coding management experience with DoD medical coding for outpatient and inpatient areas
- Expertise with Genesis EHR and Solventum 360
- Strong knowledge of civilian and Military Health System (MHS) official coding guidelines and clinics
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding systems and modifiers
- Knowledge of medical terminology, records regulations, coding legal compliance, and confidentiality laws
- Skilled in data collection and statistical reporting
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to train and guide contract coding staff based on audit findings
