Executive Director, Revenue Cycle

Founded in 1991, Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) is the largest orthopedic group practice in Illinois, with more than 150 physicians across orthopedic specialties serving northern Illinois and northwest Indiana through over 100 locations. IBJI offers comprehensive clinical services including advanced MRI imaging, pain management, surgical and non-surgical treatments, rheumatology, physical and occupational therapy, wellness, and sports training.

As Executive Director of Revenue Cycle, you will lead revenue cycle management operations, developing strategies to optimize revenue efficiency, establish policies and controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate stakeholders to improve financial performance.

Key responsibilities include providing executive leadership to reimbursement, coding, and compliance functions; championing revenue cycle improvements; building cross-functional relationships; implementing operational efficiencies; monitoring collections to minimize write-offs; analyzing revenue cycle metrics; managing payer contracts; developing policies; and supporting physician financial analysis. Active communication and staff development are essential.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, certification as a coder preferred, 10+ years of medical billing experience with at least 5 years in supervision, robust knowledge of billing, reimbursement, regulatory requirements, medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and excellent communication skills.

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Certified coder preferred
  • Minimum 10 years medical billing experience
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of professional fee billing, reimbursement, third party payer regulations
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, ICD9, ICD10 codes
  • Knowledge of regulatory reimbursement and insurance requirements
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong working relationships and communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
