Full-time position in the Health Information Management department, working 8:00am - 4:30pm dayshift.
This role requires at least 2 years of experience in coding, charge capture, or billing in an Emergency Department or acute care setting. Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is preferred.
The Charge Capture Analyst is responsible for accurate and timely charge capture for Emergency Department services. Duties include reviewing clinical documentation and coding guidelines, identifying incorrect or incomplete charges, collaborating with ED staff and billing departments to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement. This involves reviewing daily ED encounters, monitoring charge reconciliation reports, educating ED staff, performing audits of ED charts, and participating in meetings on revenue cycle and documentation improvements.
The role requires working normal scheduled hours including holidays, call-backs, nights, weekends, and on-call duties. The employee is also expected to assist during emergencies and community disasters as necessary.
Basic computer skills, effective communication abilities, and knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, E/M coding guidelines, and familiarity with electronic health records are essential. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred.
This position emphasizes compliance with hospital policies and requires cooperative behavior under pressure with multiple deadlines.
