The Coding Denial and Appeals Specialist reviews and resolves clinical and medical-necessity denials for outpatient professional and facility services by identifying and correcting coding errors and ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams to address denial trends, participating in post-payment audits to reduce preventable denials, recommending process improvements, suggesting coding education opportunities, maintaining knowledge of payer policies, documenting denial activities, and supporting audits and coding quality initiatives.
Compensation is hourly ($27.74 - $39.16) with full-time schedule, Monday-Friday business hours, remote work allowed within Minnesota.

Minimum three years of professional outpatient/facility coding experience. Credential required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Clinical Coding Specialist (CCS), or Health Information Technology degree with RHIT or RHIA registration. Strong knowledge of ICD-10/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines. At least two years experience with denial workflows and coding software. Preferred: Five years experience and HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) credential.
