The E&M Coding Auditor/Educator conducts comprehensive audits to assess the integrity of coding and billing for physician and clinical fees, focusing on detection and correction of documentation, coding, billing errors, and medical necessity. Audits evaluate the accuracy of documentation, including E/M and other payer codes, compliance with documentation standards, and reimbursement accuracy.
The role involves researching and applying federal guidelines, developing and delivering provider educational programs, supporting organizational compliance models, leading education events, and managing related projects.
This position requires strong communication and relationship-building skills to serve as a subject matter expert and support risk management and federal compliance understanding.
Qualifications include certification as a Professional Medical Auditor and Certified Coding Specialist (AAPC and/or AHIMA), at least 2 years of professional E&M coding and provider education experience, proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and a deep knowledge of E&M regulations and CMS guidelines.
This position is essential to maintaining compliance, enhancing coding accuracy, and improving provider education in physician practice environments.
