The Health Information Management (HIM) Lead oversees daily HIM operations and supports process improvement initiatives within the department. This role is responsible for training new team members, monitoring quality and productivity, and assisting with workflows such as chart reconciliation, electronic health record (EHR) task queues, unbilled account resolution, and physician documentation deficiencies. The HIM Lead ensures compliance with organizational standards and regulatory guidelines and supports the HIM leadership team in driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities include providing training and support for HIM staff; monitoring workflows and performance indicators; identifying process gaps and partnering with leadership on corrective actions; performing operational tasks to ensure workflow continuity; tracking and reporting productivity and quality metrics; serving as a subject matter expert; supporting audits and compliance; participating in meetings, training, and improvement projects; and maintaining regular attendance and policy compliance.
- 2-4 years of experience in Health Information Management or Medical Records department
- Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation standards, and HIM best practices
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification required
