UC San Diego Health's Revenue Cycle supports the organization's mission to deliver outstanding patient care and create a healthier world. The Director of Revenue Integrity manages revenue capture operations, working closely with departments and providers on charge and billing compliance. This role oversees personnel and resource management, quality assurance, and ensures compliance with policies, government regulations, and payer requirements.
Key responsibilities include implementing programs for charge capture, improving departmental processes, developing policies and monitoring tools, collaborating with clinical leaders on charge and coding protocols, directing corrective action plans, reviewing revenue optimization, conducting charge audits, maintaining Charge Description Master (CDM) processes and pricing updates, and serving as a regulatory resource for Medicare, Medicaid, and other payor rules.
The Director leads meetings, monitors denial and appeal trends, analyzes charge reconciliation reports, provides education based on findings, and ensures compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. The position reports directly to the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer.
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field with at least eight years of relevant healthcare revenue cycle experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, coding and documentation standards, billing and collection processes, reimbursements, charge capture, and regulatory requirements (CMS, Medicare, Medicaid). Ability to conduct financial and qualitative analysis, lead teams, resolve complex issues, and develop business plans.
Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in business or finance, ten or more years of progressive revenue cycle experience, leadership experience, familiarity with process improvement initiatives, consulting experience, and certifications such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or CHRI certification.
