Insurance Specialist II - Credit Balance Team

The US Oncology Network is seeking an Insurance Specialist to join the Revenue Cycle Department at Texas Oncology in Richardson, TX. This full-time Monday through Friday role involves managing Federal and Commercial credits, reviewing payment postings, resolving payment and billing errors, contacting insurance companies and patients regarding billing and account balances, and adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines. The position supports high-quality, evidence-based oncology care in a community setting.

Qualifications vary by level:

  • Level 1: High school diploma, 2 years medical billing/payment experience, knowledge of state, federal, and third party claims and collection guidelines.
  • Level 2: All Level 1 plus 4 years medical billing/payment and knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology.
  • Senior Level: Associates degree preferred, 6 years medical billing/payment experience including insurance resolution, proficiency with Microsoft Office, oncology medical coding knowledge.

Key competencies include adaptability, customer service, sound judgment, commitment to quality, and ability to work with changing demands.

Physical demands include regular sitting and computer use, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Work is office-based with frequent staff contact and potential patient exposure pertinent to a clinical environment.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Level 1: High school diploma, minimum 2 years medical billing and payment experience.

  • Knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing.

  • Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines.

  • Completion of required e-learning within 90 days.

  • Level 2: In addition to Level 1, minimum 4 years billing/payment experience.

  • Knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology.

  • Senior Level: Associate's degree or 4 years revenue cycle experience preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years insurance resolution experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Knowledge of oncology medical coding and claims processing.
